Professions
Linden-Green Arbiter
"The contract is already signed. The only question is whether you'd like the enforcement to be discreet."
Role: High-stakes legal practitioners who negotiate, enforce, and adjudicate Juris-Axiomatic contracts. The Arbiter is the LGT's public face in any significant transaction, the person in the room when a deal closes or a violation is declared.
| Favored Save | Wit, negotiation endurance; resist social manipulation and information pressure |
| Power Access | Temporal Harmonics at 1D free (Covenant and Archive are the primary professional Disciplines; Resonance-Ward is available but rarely used in standard practice) |
| Key Talents | Persuade (Wit), Lore (Wit), Generational Logistics Focus, Notice (Wit) |
| Signature Focus | Signet of the Accord, +2D to Covenant and Resonance-Ward rolls; Covenants sealed with the Signet carry automatic LGT legal standing in all signatory jurisdictions without requiring separate legal process. Issued exclusively to credentialed Arbiters; black market copies lack the harmonic signature required for the bonus. (Full rules: AX.GIL.08.01, Temporal Harmonics Foci) |
Progression Track
| Stage | Perk | Source | Recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Contract Memory | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Session |
| 2 | Axiomatic Injunction | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Long Rest |
| 3 | Covenant of the Accord | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Full Rest |
Stage 1, Contract Memory: Perfect recall of every Juris-Axiomatic contract read or participated in. Identify non-standard clauses, hidden obligations, and missing standard protections as a Free Action. Once per session, recall directly applicable LGT arbitration precedent, GM must acknowledge its existence and approximate relevance.
Stage 2, Axiomatic Injunction: As a Primary Action, legally suspend a specific action, transaction, or contract for 24 hours pending Juris-Axiomatic review. No Talent roll required, this is a procedural right of credentialed LGT representatives. Enforceable in all signatory jurisdictions. Requires LGT credentials in good standing. Once per Long Rest.
Stage 3, Covenant of the Accord: Seal a Covenant carrying the full institutional weight of the Linden-Green Accords. For non-practitioners: seal without a Harmonic roll as a purely legal instrument, violation triggers LGT arbitration, financial penalties, and criminal proceedings. For Temporal Harmonics practitioners: a successful Covenant roll automatically carries Accord-weight arbitration on violation, without requiring the Signet Focus (Signet still provides its +2D). Requires LGT certification. Once per Full Rest.
Design note: All three Stages are Faction Authority perks, an intentional exception to the variety guideline. The Arbiter's entire mechanical identity is the LGT institutional apparatus. A Stage 3 Arbiter who cannot Covenant is not an Arbiter.
Roleplay Notes
The Arbiter approaches every interaction as a negotiation, every conversation as a record, and every promise as a draft contract awaiting formalization. They do not bluff, an Arbiter who loses a bluff has created a precedent that damages their credibility across every future negotiation. They prefer situations where the outcome is determined before the meeting begins.
In the field, an Arbiter is least comfortable with physical confrontation (not their domain) and most dangerous when they have preparation time. Given 24 hours and a complete contract history, an Arbiter can build a legal position that makes direct opposition economically irrational for most parties.
Unaffiliated Template
Freelance: The most natural unaffiliated expression. A Freelance Arbiter holds independent legal credentials recognized across all orgs; they can draft contracts, identify violations, and provide deniable legal expertise that no org wants in their official records. They lose the Injunction and Accord-weight Covenant; they gain Jurisdictional Ambiguity at Stage 3, which is its own form of legal protection.
Outcast: An Arbiter whose credentials were revoked after a Covenant was ruled invalid or after a high-profile arbitration failure. They still know every LGT procedure, every personnel pattern, and every gap in the enforcement machinery. Ghost Credentials and Institutional Memory represent residual access to the system they were expelled from.
Asset Auditor
"I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here to find the trouble that's already here."
Role: Field investigation specialists who assess property compliance, locate contract violations, and document evidence for Juris-Axiomatic proceedings. The operative arm of LGT enforcement, the people who go to the site before the Arbiter issues the Injunction.
| Favored Save | Speed, fieldwork extraction; getting out before a situation escalates |
| Power Access | None, the Auditor's toolkit is observational, technical, and physical, not Harmonic |
| Key Talents | Notice (Wit), Stealth (Speed), Technical (Wit), Security Systems Focus |
| Signature Focus | LGT Multi-Scanner, a licensed handheld device that combines standard technical scanning with Axiomatic resonance detection. +1D to Technical rolls involving property assessment, security system analysis, and contract-violation evidence collection. Passive: detects whether any active Covenants are present in a scanned location (does not read terms, only presence). Issued to credentialed Auditors; possession by a non-Auditor constitutes LGT property violation under standard Accord terms. |
Progression Track
| Stage | Perk | Source | Recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Resonance Read | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Harmonic Support | Short Rest |
| 2 | Deep Knowledge | AX.C.09.02, Expertise | Scene |
| 3 | Faction Pull | AX.C.09.02, Organizational | Full Rest |
Stage 1, Resonance Read: As a Free Action, roll Wit + Attunement vs Threshold 2. On success: determine whether any Harmonic Tradition was used within Near range in the last 24 hours. On 3+ successes: identify which Tradition. On 5+ successes: approximate intensity. Does not require Harmonic Tradition access, detects residual Axiomatic signatures. Dead Zones increase Threshold to 4. Once per Short Rest.
Stage 2, Deep Knowledge: Once per scene, before making a Talent roll, ask the GM one specific, direct question about the task, target, or environment. The GM answers honestly with what the character would know professionally. Roll proceeds normally, informed by the answer.
Stage 3, Faction Pull: Call in a significant LGT organizational resource, enforcement personnel (2–4 Linden Guards), a formal evidence-preservation team, an intelligence briefing on a target entity, or an official legal intervention that changes the situation's status. The LGT remembers this was called in. Once per Full Rest.
Roleplay Notes
The Auditor is patient, thorough, and prefers to document before acting. They have seen enough contract violations to know that the most dangerous ones are the ones that look clean on the surface. They carry an institutional skepticism toward everyone's account of events that makes them excellent investigators and occasionally difficult colleagues.
Fieldwork means the Auditor operates in conditions that LGT institutions are not designed for, active construction sites, locations with disputed ownership, properties where the other party knows an audit is coming and has had time to prepare. The Auditor's Stealth investment is not unusual for the role; sometimes the most useful thing is to assess the property before anyone knows you're there.
Unaffiliated Template
Freelance: A natural fit. Freelance Auditors are hired by parties who need an assessment that LGT affiliation would compromise, a corp checking whether their partner is in violation before formally alleging it, or a private party assessing property they're considering purchasing through grey channels. Open Market Standing replaces Professional Standing as their entry credential.
Mercenary: An Auditor who applies their skills for whoever needs the assessment. Security consultants, compliance evaluators, evidence-gathering specialists. Their LGT training makes them credible even without LGT backing; the Reputation Ledger at Stage 3 is a natural fit for a career built on delivery record.
Temporal Strategist
"You're thinking about this quarter. I'm thinking about what this quarter's precedent means in 2074."
Role: Long-horizon analysts who model the multi-decade consequences of LGT policy decisions, contract structures, and political moves. The institutional memory that makes the LGT's century-scale strategy coherent, the people who remember the last seven times this situation arose and what happened each time.
| Favored Save | Wit, analytical clarity under sustained pressure; resist information manipulation and deliberate confusion |
| Power Access | Temporal Harmonics at 1D free, specifically the Archive Discipline; Deep-Read is rarely relevant, Covenant access is available but the Strategist uses it differently than Arbiters (analysis, not enforcement) |
| Key Talents | Lore (Wit), Generational Logistics Focus, Tactics (Wit), Attunement (Wit) |
| Signature Focus | Chronicler's Tablet, a dedicated LGT device loaded with a curated Archive subset: primary records from centuries of Accord negotiation, arbitration rulings, economic pattern data, and proprietary LGT historical models. +2D to Lore rolls involving Accord history, inter-org legal precedent, and long-range consequence modeling. The tablet is a Temporal Harmonic instrument as well as a data device, it can be used as a Focus for Archive rolls, providing +1D when used this way (this does not stack with the +2D Lore bonus, use whichever applies to the specific roll). |
Progression Track
| Stage | Perk | Source | Recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Contract Memory | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Session |
| 2 | Backlash Buffer | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Harmonic Support | Long Rest |
| 3 | Mastery (Lore) | AX.C.09.02, Expertise | Full Rest |
Stage 1, Contract Memory: Perfect recall of every Juris-Axiomatic contract reviewed. Identify non-standard clauses as a Free Action. Once per session, recall a directly applicable historical precedent, GM acknowledges its existence and relevance.
Stage 2, Backlash Buffer: When Backlash triggers while Stressed, spend Reaction to reduce severity by one step (Severe→Moderate, Moderate→Minor, Minor→negated) before the effect resolves. Must be declared before GM describes the Backlash. Does not apply to Kinetic Modifier Backlash. Once per Long Rest.
Stage 3, Mastery (Lore): Once per Full Rest, after making a Lore roll, reroll any dice in the pool showing 1, 2, or 3. Keep new results. Wild Die may be rerolled this way.
Roleplay Notes
The Temporal Strategist rarely speaks urgently and never panics. They have read accounts of situations that ended badly and situations that ended well, and they know which patterns the current situation resembles. The frustration other characters sometimes feel around a Strategist, the deliberation, the "well, the third Accord negotiation had a similar structure", is the cultural Elven time horizon expressed professionally.
Their Temporal Harmonics use is primarily archival: they are not Covenant-sealers, they are readers. An Archive roll for a Strategist produces the historical context that makes the Arbiter's Injunction or the Notary's Covenant make legal sense. They are the institutional memory that prevents the LGT from repeating its own mistakes.
Strategists are rarely the person who acts in a crisis. They are the person who, three scenes before the crisis, noted that the structure of the current situation matched a specific historical failure pattern and filed a report that no one read.
Unaffiliated Template
Freelance: A Freelance Strategist is an independent historical and legal analyst, the person orgs hire when they need to know what a given precedent actually means, without the LGT's institutional perspective shading the answer. Their historical knowledge is identical; their Jurisdictional Ambiguity at Stage 3 means no single org can compel their records.
Outcast: An Outcast Strategist knows exactly which LGT internal analyses were buried, which precedents were deliberately misapplied, and which historical records in the Archive have been quietly altered. Ghost Credentials and Institutional Memory are particularly powerful for a character who spent decades learning the system's official history, and its unofficial one.
Resonance Notary
"The document exists. The Covenant exists. The obligation now exists. That's all."
Role: Specialist practitioners who formalize, seal, and archive Juris-Axiomatic contracts using Temporal Harmonic binding. The Notary is the technical complement to the Arbiter, where the Arbiter negotiates terms, the Notary makes them physically real. No significant LGT contract is considered fully executed without a Notary's seal.
| Favored Save | Wit, harmonic concentration under pressure; resist magical disruption during sealing procedures |
| Power Access | Temporal Harmonics at 1D free, all three Disciplines are professionally relevant: Covenant (primary), Archive (for reading and validating existing seals), Resonance-Ward (protecting sealed documents from tampering) |
| Key Talents | Technical (Wit), Harmonic-Hardware Focus, Attunement (Wit), Persuade (Wit) |
| Signature Focus | Notary Seal (Harmonic Capacitor), a precision Temporal Harmonic instrument that stores and releases Axiomatic energy specifically for Covenant sealing. +1D to all Temporal Harmonics rolls. Additionally: when using the Seal to formalize a contract in a witnessed professional setting (both parties present, standard LGT protocol followed), Resonance Stress does not accumulate for that roll, the Capacitor absorbs and regulates the harmonic output. This exception applies only to standard witnessed sealing; emergency or contested Covenant use accumulates Stress normally. |
Progression Track
| Stage | Perk | Source | Recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Harmonic Attunement | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Harmonic Support | Always active |
| 2 | Axiomatic Injunction | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Long Rest |
| 3 | Covenant of the Accord | Setting AX.GIL.08.02, Faction Authority | Full Rest |
Stage 1, Harmonic Attunement: When Stressed, attempt to ground harmonics as a Minor Action rather than a Primary Action. Roll unchanged: Governing Attribute + Resolve vs Threshold 3. On failure, remains Stressed and may not attempt again until next rest. Always available when Stressed, no per-use cap.
Stage 2, Axiomatic Injunction: As a Primary Action, legally suspend a specific action, transaction, or contract for 24 hours. No Talent roll required. Enforceable in all signatory jurisdictions. Requires LGT credentials in good standing. Once per Long Rest.
Stage 3, Covenant of the Accord: Seal a Covenant carrying full Accord institutional weight. Non-practitioners: seal without a Harmonic roll, purely a legal instrument with automatic LGT arbitration on violation. Temporal Harmonics practitioners: a successful Covenant roll adds Accord-weight arbitration without requiring the Signet Focus. Once per Full Rest.
Roleplay Notes
The Notary is technically precise in a way that can read as emotionally flat. They are present to formalize an outcome that has already been negotiated, their job is accuracy, not persuasion. A Notary who notices a problem with contract language will flag it without editorial comment. A Notary who is asked to seal a contract they believe is ethically problematic will flag that too, with exactly the same tone.
Their Persuade investment is professional rather than social: Notaries are trained to explain Axiomatic contract mechanics to parties who have never worked with Harmonic binding, in terms that do not require technical expertise to understand. The ability to make something complex clear is a form of persuasion.
Notaries are the LGT's most institutionally trusted personnel; they have access to every sealed contract in their jurisdiction's archive. The NTC has wanted a Notary with technical crossover skills for decades; the HIA has wanted one longer.
Unaffiliated Template
Freelance: A Freelance Notary is the most legally precarious unaffiliated expression; they hold Harmonic sealing capability without institutional backing, which means their seals carry technical weight but not automatic Accord standing. They can still draft and seal genuine Temporal Harmonic contracts; parties who want those contracts recognized by LGT enforcement machinery will need to bring in an affiliated Notary to co-seal. Freelance Notaries are common in grey-market high-stakes transactions where both parties want the Harmonic discomfort of a real Covenant without the LGT record trail.
Outcast: An Outcast Notary whose credentials were revoked, perhaps for sealing a Covenant that was later found to be improperly executed, or for a personal ethics violation. They still have full Temporal Harmonics capability. The seals they create still work. The LGT's enforcement machinery simply will not back them.
Linden Guard
"You can appeal the Injunction. From out there."
Role: Elite security personnel protecting LGT Arcology infrastructure, high-value personnel, and active arbitration proceedings. Not bodyguards in the colloquial sense, Linden Guards are trained for the specific threat environment of institutional LGT work: parties who disagree with outcomes and have resources.
| Favored Save | Body, combat endurance; physical threat resistance; standing up to parties who decided the legal route wasn't working |
| Power Access | None, Linden Guard security philosophy is physical and positional, not Harmonic |
| Key Talents | Strike (Body), Fortitude (Body), Persuade (Wit) |
| Signature Focus | Tactical Suit & Credstick, two linked tools. The Tactical Suit provides +1 Armor (physical damage reduction). The Credstick is a dual-function device: as a payment instrument, it carries LGT-backed financial authority; as a security credential, it provides verifiable Guard identification that triggers mandatory compliance protocols in all LGT-affiliated facilities (doors open, elevators hold, security cameras route to Guard feed). The Credstick does not grant Harmonic capability, it grants institutional access that no amount of Harmonic talent provides on its own. |
Progression Track
| Stage | Perk | Source | Recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cover | AX.C.09.02, Team | Always active |
| 2 | Absorb Impact | AX.C.09.02, Defensive | Long Rest |
| 3 | Faction Pull | AX.C.09.02, Organizational | Full Rest |
Stage 1, Cover: While adjacent (Close range) to an ally, that ally gains +1 Defense against attacks from the Guard's facing direction or attacks that would require passing through the Guard's position. Does not apply if Guard is Prone, Stunned, or unable to act.
Stage 2, Absorb Impact: Reaction trigger on taking damage. Body Save vs Threshold 2. On success: reduce damage by 3 before applying to Health. Once per Long Rest.
Stage 3, Faction Pull: Call in significant LGT security resources, additional Guard personnel (2–4 NPCs), a facility lockdown authorization, an emergency legal intervention from an on-call Arbiter, or rapid extraction for protected personnel. The LGT notes this was called in. Once per Full Rest.
Roleplay Notes
The Linden Guard's Persuade investment reflects the LGT's preferred security philosophy: most threats resolve before they become physical if the Guard's presence and the institution's authority are communicated clearly. A Linden Guard who regularly gets into fights has failed at the first part of the job.
When persuasion does not resolve the situation, the Guard's response is calibrated, not emotional. They have been trained to apply minimum necessary force in contexts where the application of force creates a legal record. Every physical confrontation a Linden Guard engages in will eventually be reviewed by an Arbiter. They know this.
The Credstick's dual function creates an interesting professional dynamic: the Guard who reaches for their Credstick may be making a payment, may be calling in their credentials, or may be using it as an improvised close-quarters weapon. Parties who have not dealt with LGT security before sometimes discover the third option unexpectedly.
Unaffiliated Template
Mercenary: The most natural expression. A Guard who left the LGT's employment and now hires their institutional security training to whoever needs it. They no longer have Credstick facility access or LGT enforcement backing, but the combat and protective capability is identical, and their reputation for LGT-standard professionalism is a significant market asset. Licensed Contractor status is a clean fit.
Outcast: A Guard expelled after an incident, most commonly, using force beyond what the subsequent legal review considered appropriate, or protecting someone they shouldn't have. They know LGT facility layouts, security rotation patterns, and the exact capabilities of the people now stationed where they used to work. Ghost Credentials may still work on older Arcology access systems.
